Due to it being a .exe file, anti malware programs will flag it unless I pay to get the file verified. Since its only an early concept game, I havent put money into it to do that yet. It is however, safe and you can allow it through your settings if you are comfortable with doing that.

Hello, just gave your game a go, I love the retro feeling you are going for, the teleportation and door opening makes the levels really interesting without making them unnecessarily long.

This is just some friendly feedback I hope you don't mind.

The combat part should use some work (Of course this is a really early prototype) like directional shooting, 4 directions would be enough but 8 would be really nice. Maybe make the bullets consume less energy (Or give us more energy) so we can shoot more, even if they deal less damage it feels more satisfying (Think how people like to spam basic shot in megaman/metroid).

The spread shot didn't feel good at all since there is not a lot of enemies to try it and you can't shoot more than once. Aside from that, the platforms to jump higher (I think that's what they do?) felt more an obstacle than a tool since those jumps are just a little out of reach for the normal jump, I would suggest making the jump a lot higher or adding sound and visual effects to make the jump more noticeable.

The graphic aspect of the game is pretty much perfect for me, looks like a really well done Gameboy game and the music goes perfect with the ambient, I also would like to know the lore of the game eventually because it looks like you have a strong world building concept.

Overall I did enjoy the game for what it is (A very VERY early prototype) and I am sure it can turn into something amazing.

Great game!
Only problems were the controls were shown in the tutorial as controller, and it took me a while to figure out the boss fight (could just be me being stupid) but either way I loved the game and can't wait to see it when it's finished!

Thank you for checking it out! I'm glad you enjoyed it <3

The controls will end up having a menu with fully custom keybinds. I'm sorry it wasn't clear at first!

As for the boss, I definitely wanted it to be a tad bit difficult, even for a first boss. I was trying to get the feel of retro platformers like mega man and metroid, where its not really explained, but it feels good once you figure it out. If you have any suggestions on how I could better accomplish that, please let me know!

If you really are going for the retro kinda arcade platformer then the boss seems fine, but it would be nice to have some kind of indicator that you can shoot the boss before he powers up again because when I first got to the boss I though you were meant to wait for him to shoot all three things then get one of the spikes on the ceiling to damage him but I was wrong lol.

Also I did find one bug where if you hold right on the boss fight you can skip it and finish the game

(1 edit)

Honestly, that's a neat idea. That would be interesting to see!
Also, that is indeed an unforseen bug. However I know exactly how to fix it. Thank you for letting me know!!
p.s. Were you able to find the weapon upgrade? It's hidden

Wait also there was one more if you don't move once you enter the boss fight you will take damage from the spikes on the ceiling, and yes I did find the upgrade in level 2
